Alcoholic mixtures in histology

25-02-2025 - Products update

Bio-Optica has chosen to simplify the range of its alcoholic blends by making a few minor improvements while building on the strong evidence of the results achieved over time.

The alcoholic blend par excellence is B-Alcohol!

After many years of promotion and sales, Dehyol changes its name to B-Alcohol. No change, however, in its composition.

What is it?

B-Alcohol (formerly Dehyol) is an alcoholic mixture that contains only ethanol (the main part) and isopropanol (approximately 10%). It is totally free of methanol or other substances.

Why choose B-Alcohol?

B-Alcohol is the most tested, best-selling and most certified alcohol blend: it is the best performing solution in both cytohistological staining and processing.
In processing specifically, it achieves the best results when used using IVD-R certified protocols that exploit a complete and progressive alcohol scale: as is the case with the B-PRO450 tissue processor.

B-Alcohol exists in absolute, 95% and 70% concentration.

The format for B-PRO450 is packaged in special canisters with RFID technology to ensure use within a full traceability process.

An alcohol mixture consisting mainly of ethanol, with less than 5% Isopropanol: Alcoolpath Blue.

This alcoholic mixture, characterised by a light blue colour, differs from B-Alcohol in that it contains a higher percentage of ethanol.

Why choose Alcoolpath Blue?

As it consists almost entirely of ethanol, we recommend Alcoolpath Blue for those who are used to working with pure ethyl alcohol and who want to reduce the amount of isopropanol in the alcohol mixture.

Alcoolpath Blue exists in absolute, 95% and 70% concentration.
