The examination of surgical margins is of crucial importance in determining the appropriateness of surgery.
A surgical margin is defined as the tissue removed furthest from the lesion location and which was adjacent to what was still present in vivo. The reading of margins is important for any type of melanoma and all the more so for those with a high level of local infiltrative character, which translates into a high potential for reoccurrence.
To support this diagnostics, Bio-Optica offers a set of markers for margins in 7 different colours based on natural polymers. Used for the identification and orientation of surgical margins, formulated to define margins without colour changes or fading and without staining the solvents used for fixation and processing.
Among the features that make Bio-Optica marking dyes unique is the product's complete non-toxicity, since it is completely free of components that are hazardous to the organism. This helps preventing operator's safety. Moreover, thanks to the immediate adhesion to the tissue which lasts 2-3 minutes, it is possible to perform a single staining step avoiding any use of reagents to fix the colours to the section under investigation.
You can find them in their different packaging:
- 30 ml bottles
- 240 ml bottles
